  • SMILE Satellite System PDR Review Meeting Held in Beijing

    14th Oct 2019, the National Space Science Center (NSSC),Chinese Academy of Sciences, organized the SMILE satellite system Preliminary Design Review (PDR) meeting in Beijing. Head of Bureau of Major R&D Programs, CAS, Chief Scientist, Chief Engineer and Representatives from Satellite System, Chinese Control Center (CCC), Ground Support System (GSS) and Science Application System (SAS) attended the meeting.

  • SMILE Ground Support System Preliminary Design Review Successfully Completed

    On August 20, 2019, The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) Ground Support System (GSS) team completed a successful Preliminary Design Review (PDR) meeting in Beijing. Experts from project management, Satellite System, Chinese Control Center (CCC) system, Science Application System (SAS) and independent peer reviewers attended the meeting.

  • SMILE Co-Engineer Meeting held in ESTEC and IAMC

    After SMILE mission adoption by ESA in the beginning of March, 2019, Airbus in Madrid was selected as Payload Module (PLM) contractor. In order to consolidate the Interface Requirement Document (IRD) and the Interface Control Document (ICD) between each system. PLM – Payloads co - engineer meeting was held in ESTEC on 22nd April-3rd May. Then PLM - PF (Platform) co - engineer meeting was held in IAMC ( Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of CAS) at the beginning of May.

  • SMILE 13th Science Study Team and Consortium meeting successfully held in Xi’an China

    From May 12 to 15, 2019, the 13th Science Study Team (SST) and joint meeting of the Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) were held in Xi'an, China. The meeting was jointly convened by Chinese Chief Scientist Chi Wang, European Chief Scientist Graziella Branduardi-Raymont of University College London, and Project Scientist Philippe Escoubet of the European Space Agency (ESA). Over 90 people, including science team menbers from the England, America, Canada, Austria, Belgium, ESA and China, as well as the engineering team, payload team, Chinese Control Center, Ground Support System, Science Application System, ESA project team, and European Space Astronomical Center (ESAC), participated in the meeting.

  • SMILE Study Team visited Xian Satellite Control Center

    SMILE (Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer) is a joint space scientific mission between ESA and CAS. Telemetry &Telecommand of SMILE will be mainly charged by Chinese Control Center system and will be supported by ESA ground stations.In order to further implement the mission, ESA and CAS SMILE study team visited Xian Satellite Control Center (XSCC) on 15th May, 2019. XSCC introduced the history and missions at first, and then the team visited the control center hall. SMILE study team also discussed the interface of the ground segment with experts from XSCC. From this visitation, both sides have good understanding for each other about operation and processing during launch period.
