Integrated Test of Sounding Rocket Finished
The first integrated test of sounding rocket, a sub-Project of the Meridian Project, was finished on August 22, 2010.
This is the second sounding rocket, and the first one is a meteorological rocket, which was launched successfully from Hainan Sounding Rocket Base (HSRB) at 4:00 P.M. on July 3, 2010. And it was the first time to use GPS technique, at the altitude of 20km to 60km in near space, to obtain detecting parameters on the air temperature, pressure and wind field at the low latitude of China.
The sounding-rocket project of the Meridian Project is designed to obtain relevant space environment parameters on atmospheric micro-constituents, electric field with an altitude lower than 200km, and parameters on electron density, ion density and electron temperature in ionosphere.
The payload system will be delivered to Xi’an city for further integration, test and final assembly. And the sounding rocket will be launched from HSRB at the end of this year.
