The 8th Cross-strait Seminar on Space Science was Successfully Held

CSSAR--The 8th Cross-strait Seminar on Space Science was successfully held in Huangshan, Anhui Province on September 1-5, 2008. The topic of the seminar was the space science and application. The objectives of the seminar were to: 1) understand the international development tendency of the space science and application; 2) communicate new achievements of this field made by the cross-strait and oversea Chinese; 3) discuss the possibilities of cooperation; and 4) contribute the efforts of all the Chinese to the development of space science.


More than 80 cross-strait representatives presented the seminar, including approximately 20 Taiwan and oversea representatives and more than 60 representatives from 20 organizations of mainland China. The Director of CSSAR of CAS Wu Ji was the President of the seminar and the Deputy Director Wang Chi was the President of the organization committee and presided main academic activities.


95 papers were presented and circulated regarding: 1) research and application of space plasma physics and space environment detection; 2) research and application of ionosphere and radar science; 3) space remote sensing science and application; and 4) application and prospect of space science.


The Director of CSSAR Wu Ji, the CAS Academician Liu Zhenxing, the professor of Catholic University of America Huang Yunchao, the professor of Taiwan Central University Zhao Jikun and the professor of the University of Alabama Wu Shican delivered special presentations on the seminar respectively.
