CSERF Ensured the Space Environment for Broadcast Satellites of Beijing Olympics
CSSAR--During July 28th to September 22nd, 2008, the Center for Space Environment Research and Forecast (CSERF) of CAS organized 6 member organizations to monitor and predict space environment for secure operation of broadcast satellites of Beijing Olympics. It provided safeguard products and data of space environment and ensured the space environment security of satellite operation.
CSERF established the "Monitoring Team of Space Environment Security of Broadcast Satellites of Beijing Olympics" on July 28th, 2008. The 40 members of the team mainly came from CSSAR comprising 13 research institutes and 12 monitoring stations of 6 member organizations. During the Olympics and Paralympics from July 28th to September 22nd, the team performed continuous monitoring on the space environment of broadcast satellites of Beijing Olympics, analyzed the monitored information and the potential impact on satellites caused by space environment, and periodically provided the satellite ground station with space environment prediction and security evaluation and space environment monitoring data products. It provided space environment security for successful broadcasting of 2008 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.
