On April 26, 2012, Professor Alaxandr Potekhin, Director of Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences (ISTP, SB, RAS), and Professor Alaxandr Potapov, Deputy Director of ISTP, SB, RAS visited National Space Science Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences and received by Director of NSSC CAS Professor WU Ji and Deputy Director Professor WANG Chi.
The two parties renewed the charter of the Joint Research Center on Space Weather, extending it for the next five years; and, taking into account Academician Geliy A. Zherebtsov's proposal, appointed Director of ISTP SB RAS Corresponding Member of RAS Aleksandr P. Potekhin and Director of NSSC CAS Professor Ji WU as Co-Directors of the Joint Research Center on Space Weather.
The two parties signed Agreement for Joint Research in Solar-Terrestrial Physics, ushering the dawn for the next five years cooperation. Both parties confirmed the fruitful cooperation in the past 12 years.
The previous bilateral agreement was signed on November 2, 2000 and in the same year the Joint Research Center on Space Weather was established. During its lifetime, more than 40 different scientific projects have been implemented, over 200 joint scientific works and two collective monographs have been published. Research results were reported at 10 Russian-Chinese conferences and other scientific forums.
