2011 CNCOSPAR Meeting held in NSSC

  On 22 November 2011, the 2011 CNCOSPAR meeting was held at National Space Science Center. Yin Hejun, the Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences chaired the meeting in which over 40 Chinese COSPAR National Committee Members participated. The academicians who took part in the conference include Liu Zhenxing, Hu Wenrui, Tu Chuanyi, Li Tipei and Gu Yidong. The attendees come from a range of institutes including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Nanjing University and Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, China National Space Administration and Ministry of Science and Technology etc.

  In the opening remark, Yin put more stress on COSPAR’s function of promoting intercommunication and cooperation. Wu Ji, Secretary General of CNCOSPAR, delivered the CNCOSPAR Work Report 2009-2011. He also made an introduction of the 39th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Mysore, India, the application of COSPAR awards, and the COSPAR Associate Supporters Mechanism. Li Lei, Deputy Secretary General of CNCOSPAR, made a brief introduction to the compilation of COSPAR Space Science Activities in China: National Report 2010-2012. A session of free discussion on topics touched upon by the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General was then carried out during which the attending academicians and researchers expressed their point of views and some of the topics such as the nomination of awards winners and the draft of the National Report were under hot discussion.

  In the concluding remark, Yin said highly of the CNCOSPAR work during the past two years. He expected the space science community at home to make full use of the platform of COSPAR to obtain the leapfrog development of Chinese space science research.
