Director of ISAS, JAXA Visited NSSC

On 14 Jan. 2015, a delegation headed by Prof. Saku Tsuneta, Vice President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Director of Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), visited the National Space Science Center, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Prof. WU Ji, Director General of NSSC, extended his warm welcome to the delegation and Prof. WANG Chi, Deputy Director General of NSSC, introduced NSSC and its space science missions. Both parties exchanged experience in developing space science missions and in international cooperation, and expressed the intentions to carry out collaboration in proper time in the future. As the first director of ISAS to visit NSSC, Prof. Saku Tsuneta, expressed the wishes to know more about the development of Chinese space science and stated that mutual understanding can pave the way for future cooperation.

Shortly after the bilateral meeting, Prof. Prof. Masaki Fujimoto, Director for International Strategy and Coordination of ISAS, delivered a lecture entitled Comparative Magnetospheric Studies - Now's the time.

The delegation was invited to a technical visit of CAS Key Laboratory of Microwave Remote Sensing, the Science Data Center of Meridian Project, the Concurrent Design and Simulation Center as well as the International Space Science Institute Beijing Branch (ISSI-BJ).

ISAS became one of four principal sections within the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) which was established in 2003. Its mission is to advance space science in Japan.
