From May 5 to May 14, 2014, a delegation from the Space Research Institute (Institutfür Weltraum forschung, IWF), the Austrian Academy of Sciences, paid a visit to the Laboratory of Solar System Exploration for engineering model deliverance. The delegation members include Dr. Werner Magnes and Dr. Andreas Pollinger from IWF, and Msc. Michaela Ellmeier from the Graz University of Technology.

The National Space Science Center (NSSC) collaborated with IWF on payload development in the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) mission. IWF was responsible for providing NSSC with a set of absolute scalar magnetometer for High Precision Magnetometer (HPM), called the Couple Dark State Magnetometer (CDSM). CDSM is designed and tested to obtain the scalar magnetic field data for the Fluxgate magnetometer (FGM) on orbit.

During the one-week’s stay at NSSC, the CDSM team accomplished the mechanical and electronic interface tests with HPM, and the related basic characteristics verification tests.

A symposium was also organized on the topic of Dark State Quantum Magnetic Measurement. Three delegation members introduced in detail the CDSM principle and shared with NSSC research fellows the latest trend and improvements on CDSM development.
