On Dec 9, 2014, an European Space Agency (ESA) Delegation headed by Jean-Jacques Dordain, Director General of ESA, paid an official visit to the National Space Science Center, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Prof. WU Ji, Director General of NSSC, met with the delegation and invited the delegation to visit the Exhibition Hall of DFH-1, the Space Environment Prediction Center, the Concurrent Design Facilities for System Simulation, as well as the ESA-NSSC cooperative project, known as the Geo interferometric Millimeter Wave Sounder Demonstrator developed by the CAS Key Laboratory of Microwave Remote Sensing Technology.

During the meeting after the site visit, Prof. WU Ji briefly introduced NSSC and the ongoing CAS Strategic Priority Program on Space Science, touching upon the joint effort of ESA and CAS on the Double Star Mission and the ongoing ESA-CAS Joint Space Science Mission. He also extended his warm congratulation on the amazing Rosetta mission. Mr. Dordain stated that ESA and NSSC have been maintaining a close cooperative relationship for quite a long time, and he felt contented that ESA could take an active role in future Chinese space science missions.

Jean-Jacques Dordain acted as Director General of EAS from June, 2003. During his term, Ariane Rocket has achieved resounding success. More than that, he also supervised a series of major space missions, such as the Rosetta Mission and the Plank Mission and had actively promoted the bilateral relations between China and Europe.
