Vice President of TUBITAK Visited NSSC

On Nov. 20, 2014, a Turkey delegation led by Dr. Abdullah CAVUSOGLU, Vice President of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TüB?TAK), visited the National Space Science Center (NSSC), CAS. Mr. Fu Zhiheng, Vice President of China Great Wall Industry Corporation accompanied the visit.

After a general tour of the Exhibition Hall of DFH-1, China’s first artifical satellite, the delegation was invited to visit an array of laboratories in NSSC, including the CAS Space Environment Prediction Center, the CAS Key Lab. of Microwave Remote Sensing, the Space Avionics Lab., etc.

Prof. WU Ji, Director General of NSSC, met with Dr. Abdullah CAVUSOGLU and introduced the history of NSSC and its past, ongoing and future space science programs. Both sides touched upon the organzing work of the COSAR Scientific Assembly, to be held in Istanbule, from July 30 to Aug. 7, 2016.

Dr. Lokman KUZU, Director of TUBITAK UZAY Space Technologies Institute, emphasised the importance of continuity in space program management, and expressed that taking full advantage of Turkey’s 100-year anniversary, space science in Turkey was now drawing more attention.

Dr. Abdullah CAVUSOGLU said that "although Turkey is relatively new in this field, more projects are under way". He valued his trip to NSSC as a very productive one, ont only clearifying visions, but also fostering future collaborations on research themes of common interests, which will for sure facilitate a very good relationship between the two countries.

Established in 1963, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TüB?TAK), is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. TüB?TAK is also the host for the 2016 COSPAR Scientific Assembly. TüB?TAK UZAY (Space Technologies Research Institute) focuses on space Technologies, information technologies, and high altitude aerial systems as subsystem developer and integrator, keeping abreast of the latest technological developments.
