IGARSS 2016 Preparation Underway
On June 11, 2014, Prof. Adriano Camps from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (CPU) visited the National Space Science Center (NSSC) and delivered two talks entitled “GNSS-R, a new paradigm in Earth Observation: from theory to applications” and “The UPC-Barcelona Tech nanosatellite program: low-cost or high-return Earth Remote Sensing?” respectively. The lecture was chaired by Prof. WU Ji, Director General of NSSC. Over 50 research staff attended the talk.
As the Vice President for the Meetings & Symposia of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, Prof. Camps discussed in detail with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium 2016 (IGARSS 2016) on a variety of topics, such as the meeting venue, events plan, budget, etc. He expressed his satisfaction with the current preparation work of the LOC and offered constructive suggestions.
After the discussion, Prof. Camps was invited to visit the CAS Key Lab. of Microwave and Remote Sensing and the Lab. of Space Environment Exploration at NSSC for scientific exchanges and in-depth discussion on possible cooperation areas in the future.
The annual IGARSS is one of the most important international meetings in the field of remote sensing attracting over 2000 participants all over the world. China won the bid to host the IGARSS 2016 in the IEEE GRSS Administrative Committee meeting in 2012. The main purpose of Prof. Camps's visit is to inspect the preparation work for the IGARSS 2016.
