Swiss Space Delegation Visited NSSC
On Sept. 18, a delegation led by Daniel NEUENSCHWANDER, Director of Swiss Space Office, visited National Space Science Center. Prof. WU Ji extended his warm welcome to the visiting guests and gave a brief introduction of NSSC.
Prof. Falanga, Executive Director of ISSI-Beijing, gave a brief introduction to ISSI-Beijing, a newly jointly established research institute by ISSI Bern, Switzerland and NSSC. Prof. WANG Chi, Deputy Director General of NSSC, updated the recent progress of DAMPE mission and Prof. ZHENG Jianhua, Director of Information Simulation Laboratory, introduced the Concurrent Design Center of NSSC, which is followed by Prof. CHEN Ding, Director of New Technology Research Laboratory, giving brief introduction of the STEP mission.
Both parties exchanged ideas of common interests. Taking into account of the involvement of the Swiss side in the current projects managed by NSSC, such as the DAMPE mission for dark matter detection, both parties are happy with the ongoing current cooperation. Daniel NEUENSCHWANDER believed that the establishment of ISSI-Beijing is a nice example for cooperation.
The Swiss delegation expressed the willingness to support the joint cooperation between NSSC and the Swiss counterparts, and both parties discussed the possible new areas of cooperation.
The Swiss delegation expressed kin interest in the CAS Strategic Pioneer Program on Space Science, especially about the missions in the pre-study phase. In the discussion, Prof. WU Ji explained in detail the pre-study missions to the delegation. Based on the ongoing cooperation in DAMPE, future collaboration in joint calibration and data analysis is expected.
During the visit, the Swiss delegation visited the Concurrent Design Center and the Space Environment Exploration Laboratory of NSSC.
