CSERF Held 7th National Symposium on Space Envionment and Application
YUNNAN, Oct.24 - 25 ---The 7th National Symposium on Space Environment and Application was held in Tengchong, YUNNAN Province, under the auspices of Center for Space Environment Research and Forecast (CSERF). More than 110 scholars and specialists from 34 space environment research institutes and user units attended the symposium.
Gong Jiancun, director of CSERF acts as host at the opening ceremony. Wang Fan, deputy director from Bureau of Science and Technology for Resource and Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Wu Ji, director of National Space Science Center (NSSC), CAS and deputy director of CSERF Administration Committee and other leaders attended and addressed at the opening ceremony.
The symposium all together received 94 academic papers. During the two-day’s symposium, 4 distinguished researchers from NSSC, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and National Astronomical Observatories of CAS (NAOC) were invited to make keynote speeches; 25 authors communicated with audience the latest academic progresses and development trends in space environment research and its application; 49 papers was presented on the exhibition broad demonstrating the author’s newest research progresses, facilitating the communication between researchers and scholars and product users, and providing a visual aid to their research progress demonstration.
In addition, aiming to familiarize product users with the basic knowledge of space environment and space environment warning products, “Training Courses on Solar Storm” was arranged, the main contents of which include but not limited to the following 5 aspects: new understanding towards space environment, space environment in a nutshell, significant impact of space environment, current status and products of space environment prediction, and multi-levels of the space environment warning system.
Closely linked with National Space Science Center (NSSC), CSERF consists of six organizations, namely NSSC, the National Astronomical Observatories of CAS (NAOC), Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM) of CAS, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) of CAS and the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). CSERF is primarily and actively engaged in application research and services, such as space environment monitoring, prediction, effects analysis in space environment research and application fields, and so on.
