BAI Chunli, President of CAS, Congratulated the Successful Launching of Shenzhou IX
Shenzhou IX blasted off from the Jiuquan Satelite Launch Center into space at 6:37 pm on June 16, 2012. BAI Chunli, President of CAS, congratulated the successful launching of Shenzhou IX, which will take China one step further to establishing its own space station in 2020.
National Space Science Center, CAS is in charge of space environment support by providing space environment forecasting for the launch and operation of Shenzhou IX and its space rendezvous and docking.
Three months prior to the launch, forecasting of the space environment has already been initiated. One week before the launch of the spacecraft, forecasting is provided in order to protect Shenzhou IX from the harsh space environmental events. During the rendezvous and docking with Tiangong-1, an All-day 24 hours monitoring and prediction service about the space environment changes is supplied to escort the mission.
