Roger Bonnet and Simon Aegerter from ISSI visited NSSC
On 12February 2012, Simon Aegerter, President of Board of Trustees of ISSI and Roger Bonnet, Executive Director of ISSI, visited NSSC for co-establishing the organization of ISSI-Beijing. The ISSI delegation was warmly received by Wu Ji, Director General of NSSC and Wang Chi, Deputy Director General of NSSC.
Wu Ji said highly of the successful operation model and the framework of International Teams, Workshops, Working Groups, Forums and individual Visiting Scientists. Simon Aegerter and Roger Bonnet expressed the willingness to establish solid cooperative relations with NSSC. Both parties were willing to deepen further cooperation by co-establishing an ISSI-Beijing. After fruitful discussion on the details of the future ISSI-Beijing, both parties signed Memorandum of Understanding.
The International Space Science Institute (ISSI), located in Bern Switzerland, is an Institute of Advanced Studies where scientists from all over the world meet in a multi- and interdisciplinary setting to reach out for new scientific horizons. The main function is to contribute to the achievement of a deeper understanding of the results from different space missions, ground based observations and laboratory experiments, and adding value of those results through multidisciplinary research. The program of ISSI covers a widespread spectrum of disciplines from the physics of the solar system and planetary sciences to astrophysics and cosmology, and from Earth sciences to astrobiology.
