Vice President of CAS Yin Hejun Visiting LASP

  A meeting was held between Daniel Baker, the Director of Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), Professor Li Xinlin and a delegation led by Yin Hejun, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, accompanied by Professor Wu Ji and Wang Chi, Director and Deputy Director of National Space Science Center respectively. Cao Jinghua, Deputy Director of Bureau of International Cooperation and Yu Yingjie, Deputy Director of Bureau of High-tech Research and Development also took part in the visiting. During the meeting, the long history of LASP space exploration, the technological competence of mission, the current projects and the management mode were introduced. The delegation toured the Testing Hall, the Satellite Platform and saw the process of optical equipment development. LASP is the world’s only research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto, who possesses a reservoir of successful experience from which the National Space Science Center could learn.

  The major purpose of the delegation is to know more about the recent progress of the space science and exploration in U.S. and further promote the international cooperation in NSSC and other related institutes in CAS in terms of space science. During the visit in US, the delegation also visited Space Sciences Laboratory in UC Berkeley, MIT and Space Committee of National Academy of Sciences in U.S. Yin spoke highly of the international cooperation activities at National Space Science Center which is diversified and fruitful.

  The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is a full-cycle space institute, combining all aspects of space exploration through our expertise in science, engineering, mission operations, and scientific data analysis. LASP is an institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU).
