Appraisal of Research & Prediction System of Meridian Project Held in Beijing
On July 20, the appraisal and acceptance meeting of the Research & Prediction System of a large-scale comprehensive ground-based space environment monitor system, the meridian project, was held in Beijing. Professor Wang Chi, the deputy director of National Space Science Center and the chief engineer of the project, hosted the meeting.
The expert group unanimously agreed that the Research & Prediction System of the Meridian Project meets the preliminary construction requirement and that the current running suggests stable condition, therefore the Meridian Project passed the preliminary acceptance test.
The completion of the construction of the Research & Prediction System of the Meridian Project leads to the efficient management of the space weather monitoring, study, prediction and service. Consequently, the research and development of model and method of space weather prediction could be unfolded, which provides the necessary platform for international cooperation for space science scientists home and abroad.
The space weather prediction service and prediction assurance platform is fully qualified to provide data interface for related organizations and will promote the efficiency of prediction, which will offer a solid ground for the stable performance of the Meridian Project in a long run.
