The SMILE SWT#20 and Consortium #14 meeting Held
On 1-4 November 2022, the SMILE (Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer) Mission 20th Scientific Working Team (SWT) and 14th Joint Meeting was held in university of Leicester, United Kingdom. Taking into account the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, more than 50 members participated in the meeting on line.
The meeting was co-chaired by Wang Chi, chief scientist of China, Professor Graziella Branduardi-Raymont, chief scientist of the European Party and Philippe Escoubet, project scientist at the European Space Agency (ESA). More than 80 people attended the meeting, who come from ESA, China, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, United States of America, Brazil, Czech Republic, Japan, as well as project team from European Space Technology Centre, European Space Astronomy Center, European Space Control Center and Chinese engineering team.
According to the agenda, the 1-2th was the SWT #20 and Joint Meeting #14 meeting. The reports include engineering current status and next plan, and some related academic results. The 3th was the Modeling Working Group (MWG) #32 meeting. There were 14 presentations covering several related topics, such as dynamic exosphere during geomagnetic storm derived from the X-ray observation, altitudinal dependent response near cusp after solar wind variations, modelling of magnetospheric response to interplanetary magnetic field southward turnings. The 4th was the Data Format and Calibration Working Group meeting, which mainly focused on discussing the examples of science data products and plans for verification and validation checks of science data products.
The meeting achieved the anticipated result with effective communication, meanwhile, it could effectively promote the following work. Finally, it was initially determined that the next SWT and Consortium meeting will be held on the 9th -12th May, 2023, in Chengdu, Sichuan province with European Space Operations Centre, Germany for backup.
