DONG Xiaolong
DONG Xiaolong, Professor and Deputy Director General of NSSC. He is also Vice Dean of the School of Astronomy and Space Science of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Administrative Director of the International Space Science Institute-Beijing (ISSI-BJ) and Director of the China-Brazil Joint Laboratory for Space Weather.
He received his Ph.D. from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1996 and was appointed Associate Professor and Full Professor at NSSC in 1998 and 1999, respectively. Previously, he was the director of the CAS Key Laboratory of Microwave Remote Sensing in NSSC (2014-2019); he served as the deputy commander-in-chief of the Taiji-1 (TJ-1) mission. His research focuses on the theory and techniques of microwave remote sensing for Earth observation and space exploration, with emphasis on atmospheric and oceanic studies. He was the chief designer of the microwave scatterometer on the China-France Oceanography Satellite (CFOSAT). He has published more than 200 papers in scientific journals and international conferences. He has more than 10 invention patents.
He is currently a member of the Working Group on Calibration and Validation of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS WGCV) and Chair of the Microwave Sensors Subgroup. He was a member of the Administrative Committee of the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (2017-2019).
